Landon William Doychak

“Landon William Doychak passed away on September 4, 2021. He has left us with heavy, broken hearts. He has also left us with 15 years of beautiful memories. Landon had a smile and laugh that warmed every soul in the room, and hugs that invited you in and filled you up. Landon approached life with laughter, courage, and true belief in his limitless possibilities. We are all stronger for knowing him and getting to feel his love. Landon loved playing video games on his Xbox, researching the hottest peppers and collecting hot sauces, watching the Jets and the cooking channel. He cherished his favorite blanket, his rock collection, and his comfy, plain t-shirts. He loved to snack on toxic waste candy and Takis. His heart warmed for “doggos,” especially his Rudy and his Luna.”

Landon was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in March of 2012. Duchenne muscular dystrophy is the most common fatal genetic disorder diagnosed in childhood, affecting 1 in every 3,500 male births. The Duchenne Gene is found on the X-chromosome, and primarily affects boys.
Duchenne results in a progressive loss of strength and is caused by a mutation in the gene that encodes dystrophin. Because dystrophin is absent, the muscle cells are easily damaged. The progressive muscle weakness leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Young men with Duchenne typically live into their late twenties.
Like all boys his age Landon loves his X-Box, Baseball, Pokeman, playing outside with his brothers and swimming. Landon loves dogs, well puppies and our puppy Morty Bagels most of all. Landon enjoys cars and motorcycles. Last year he got to ride with his Dad for the first time on his Harley, which hands down was one of the best afternoons of his little life, thus far. Landon is always laughing and has a smile that can light up a room. One thing that we can all say is that he will live in a limitless world because of his amazing attitude towards life.
