April 2016~
The week after Shane’s first birthday, January 19, 2016, his parents, Mike and Tina, heard the devastating news that their baby boy was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Shane was diagnosed with aggressive neuroblastoma. The malignant tumors were found behind his eyes, abdomen and pelvis. Since the initial diagnosis, cancer has spread to his bone marrow and brain as well. Shane began immediate chemotherapy at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) with his parents at his side. Mom gave birth a few days later to a beautiful daughter, Alexa, in an adjacent hospital. Shane also has an older sister, Brielle, who is 3 years old.
