Isabella’s story written by her parents

Isabella

2016-Isabella is ten years old and attends Copper Hill School . Isabella has had a long struggle as she was born with hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, optic atrophy in her right eye as well as esotropia in her left eye. As result of the hydrocephalus and spastic cerebral palsy (she uses a wheelchair and has little to no use of her left hand), Isabella was diagnosed with complex partial epilepsy at the age of 2. Unable to control her seizures with medication, the neurologist recommended surgery as the best option for her.IMG_6984

In July 2011, Isabella underwent brain surgery, right hemispherectomy, to remove the damaged brain tissue causing her seizures. While Isabella is doing well and seems to have had a great recovery, she still faces many challenges and future surgeries. Isabella continues to make great progress and is a happy little girl.
